Reviving a Dead Freesat, Qsat or any other decoder

After reading  Peacesat's article article on how to revive a dead/bricked decoder, I have spent much of my time trying to modify a female to female RS 232. I am proud to inform my clients and customers than a bricked decoder can be brought back to live using rs232 tool(downloaded from Freesat.cn), software for the bricked decoder, computer with rs232 serial port with the rs232 tool on the desktop. I followed the procedure and I successfully revived v7 Combo that got bricked in the process of upgrading the software.
For those in Kenya and have bricked decoders, I can assist you on this. Now that I have modified female rs232 that is hard to find here.
Thanks to Freesat team for being the leading company in customer service, always there to provide solutions, latest software for all their decoders and most importantly for being fair in terms of the pricing of their items.
Will share with you the whole procedure later.
I therefore recommend Freesat decoders for being the best powervu, biss keys autoroll.

TSTV-PAY AS YOU USE.

The long reign of DSTV in the Nigerian cable TV space is about to receive a major threat as a new entrant has promised to offer Nigerians the much-touted Pay-as-You-Use option, in place of the monthly subscription that is presently offered.
According to a report, Telcom Satelite TV (TSTV) is offering consumers on their platform the option of paying only for programmes watched, an option that hitherto was not possible.
TSTV is set to show live English Premier League matches as well as La Liga and Champions League matches.
TSTV is partnering with Europe-based television station, ABS Global to offer this content. And the anticipated launch date is October 1.
Currently Seven television channels owned by Nigeria based TSTV have resumed transmission on Abs 3A @ 3 degree west Ku band, Africa beam with 60cm/90cm dish on frequency 12529 V 36000. The channels include the following:
* TVC News
* TVC Entertainment
* NHK world Japan
* France 24 English
* DW TV Germany

HOPE NOT LOST

On 20/9/2017 at around 2pm, MTN worldwide went off on powervuEMU2.5. Some people performed a work around by downgrading to v2.4 which worked initially before going off yet again. 21/09/2017 around 9.am, the same person who has been credited with the release of powervuemu2.5, released the newest version and surprisingly, it fixed the issue. The new powervu emulator that is opening mtn worldwide(sports 24 HD) is PowerVuEmu.2.7.
The engineers of various autoroll decoder companies can now use the solution available to come up with a new software, that mean we need to be patient about.

Tigerstar has released a new software for the following decoders:
  • TIGER T3000
  • TIGER I400 PRO
  • TIGER I280
  • TIGER I180
  • TIGER Z98 PRO
  • TIGER Z99 PRO
  • TIGER Z180 PRO
  • TIGER Z230 PRO
  • TIGER Z280 PRO
  • TIGER Z280 +
  • TIGER Z400+
  • TIGER Z400 PRO
  • TIGER Z500+
Stay tuned for more updates.

sport24 HD GONE TOO SOON

BREAKING NEWS
It is disappointing to note that the anxiously awaited channels on MTN WORLDWIDE 57°E, 34.5°W are gone. As I had said in my previous post (about how long it might last), no one knows about tomorow, it can be for a month or year. It is now confirmed that it is gone even before  some could install the new softwares.
Let us just hope that the solution will be found as soon as possible.

At last SPORT24 HD, which is one of the MTN worldwide channels is back on air,  some decoders are now opening it with their recently released softwares while others haven't fixed it yet.
The following are some of the decoders that you can watch MTN worldwide channels with:
    • TIGER Z400+
    • TIGER Z380+
    • TIGER Z99PRO
    • TIGER Z280PRO
    • TIGER T3000
    • TIGER T245+ ULTRA
    • TIGER T8 HIGH CLASS
    • TIGER Z98 PRO

    • STRONG ST4957
    • STRONG ST4962I
    • ALPHABOX X6+ COMBO
    • GSKY V5
If you have any of the above mentioned decoders you can watch Sport24 without any problem. If you have but cannot view the channel, you need to install the latest software.(care should be taken to avoid bricking your decoder).
If you don't have any of the above you will have to wait for the new software of you type to be released, you need to exercise some patience.
To those with Freesat, Qsat, Fretek, Meelo e.t.c, soon you will be happy too when the software finally comes probably before the end of the week.
Pertaining the question has to how long the new software will last,  I have only one answer that no one knows about tomorrow, it might last for a month, a year, or longer than that.  So if you are watching it, enjoy while it is still there.

To provide many satellite dish points

To provide many satellite dish points, (e.g. FREESAT,ZUKU,STARTIME or DSTV) around the house or in each room of your house you either need a quatro LNB on your dish or a quatro LNB dish kit  and a 5 input multiswitch (multiswitches are usually situated in a loft or cupboard or central area.)
    QUAD LNBs
    3 in 4 out multiswitch

The quatro or quad LNB (with 4 outputs) feeds the multiswitch(4: 8 port) using 4 LNB cable and it is best to put two outlets in each room as it may be that twin tuner receivers(that record one channel as you watch another) may be needed. (These are called twin tuner PVRs) If so s   Use twin coaxial cable to each room and use the twin wall plate outlets in each room.

For (e.g.) 6 rooms a 12 output multiswitch would be used. An aerial can be fed into the 5th input of the multiswitch if required. Using a wall plate which has a diplexer built in, two satellite points and an aerial point is available. The UHF aerial signal is added to the satellite signal by the multiswitch and goes down the same wire as the satellite signal. If two or three aerials are required e.g. TV, FM and DAB radio, a 3 way combiner can be fitted on the roof and the one cable from that unit goes into the 5th input of the multiswitch. Again the appropriate wall plate is needed to separate them all out again.

    DIAGRAMATIC REPRESENTATION

Advantages of using multiswitch instead of a splitter

    • wider range of programming which will be available to people living in a home or apartment building. Everyone will have access to all stations. Frequency and polarization won't overlap, as they do with satellite splitters. Multiswitches also look better, since you won't have multiple satellite dishes taking up space on your patio or balcony. Less dishes mean more space and less maintenance.
    • cost savings. You will only need to buy one dish, one multiswitch, quad LNB, coaxial cable, and receiver. You won't pay any extra to watch TV. For the price you pay, you'll get a significantly greater variety of programming than you do with a cable connection
    • Signal is not attenuated as when using a splitter and therefore there is no need of signal amplifier.
    NB:
With the above discussed system, each point will  need a receiver. i will share with you soon on how to use one receiver with other televisions.

    RECEIVER ADVICE

I have decide to write this article to assist my clients who have been calling, texting and emailing me to inquire about the various receivers we have in the market.
Today I have these to share with you:

There are 2 types of receivers,

    1. Standard receivers

These can be free to air receivers or Free to air with a card slots and or cam slots. These receivers will tune to any channels on any satellites as they have the following software protocols built into them, Diseqc 1.0 and 1.1 for switching between multiple LNBs and Diseqc 1.2 and USALS for controlling a Diseqc motor on a motorised dish.
There is no extended program guide, only now and next. (However some receivers run a Linux operating system and it may be possible to find a "plug in" online which can offer an extended program guide for various program providers but this does need some research and IT skills.

    2. Dedicated receivers like Freesat receivers.

These receivers (Like Sky receivers). They have been built and licensed by a particular program provider. (A program provider usually has a number of channels on a satellite as do other program providers who share the same satellite and there may be individual channels on a satellite which are not part of a package). Dedicated receivers often have pre-programmed tuning capabilities and it may not be possible to scan in other channels / frequencies at all (e.g. freesat receivers) or if you can, only the frequencies it lets you and not others
(like Sky receivers - if you scan another satellite with a Sky receivers it will only scan in a % of channels, once the ones which coincidentally have the same frequencies as Sky channels).
Dedicated receivers usually do not have Diseqc 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 or USALS. Freesat and Sky receivers do not although other receivers on other satellites may have. (e.g. The dedicated "Strong" receivers for the French TNTsat package do have Diseqc and will tune to anything). Freesat receivers and Sky receivers are therefore not suitable for other satellites.
Dedicated receivers like freesat receivers do, however, come with a licensed extended program guide (EPG) which looks forward (usually about) a week. The latest generation freesat and Sky receivers also have an EPG which can look backwards a week (this requires and internet connection with a UK IP address). It is also called catch up TV.

Then there are single tuner receivers and twin tuner PVRs.

The latter lets you record one channel and watch another. Cheaper twin tuner PVRs may only have an external USB hard drive option. The top of the range receiver from any manufacturer is a twin tuner PVR with an internal hard drive option.

There are receivers with a standard operating system and receivers with a Linux operating system

This does not apply to dedicated receivers (only from option "1" above). Some receivers run a standard operating system and some receivers run a Linux operating system. The latter is more complicated, it is best if you have reasonable IT skills but you are rewarded with more features - Examples are - better IT connect-ability, steaming, and control from any computer in the world through a web interface.

    Receivers Examples.

Good free to air (or card / CI) single tuner receivers -
(Note - single tuner receivers usually have USB and an external hard drive or USB stick can be connected so the the channel you are on can be recorded now or later).
    Low cost -  freesat v7, v7 max
, Fretek 220 fantassy, Sab sky 4780 HD (Sky is the model name - nothing to do with Sky TV) & others
If a larger budget is available -Technomate TM5402 and Technomate TM6902
Linux single tuner - Vu+ solo SE Version 2

Good twin tuner PVR receivers -
Low cost twin tuner PVR -Icecrypt s3750
    Ultimate twin tuner PVR -
    Icecrypt s6600
(The Icecrypt s6000 is Linux but unusually is as easy to use as a standard receiver).
and advanced Linux twin tuner PVR - Vu+Duo 2
Good dedicated UK single tuner receivers -
    Freesat -Humax HB-1100S
    Sky -DRX595
Good dedicated UK twin tuner PVR receivers -
    Freesat -Humax HDR1100s
    Sky - DRX895
